Last week I was able to attend the 5th annual Industrial Hemp Summit in North Carolina that was put on by Marty Clemons and Blake Butler from the Southeast Hemp Association. The event was well attended by representatives from farming to processing to end products including major brand representatives from VF Group with an interest in hemp textiles. The presentations mostly centered on the hemp fiber and grain industries and did include discussions about applications like hemp building materials. I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Tai Olson and we were virtually accompanied by Chad Ulven in a discussion about the importance of standards in these emerging industries and the progress that has been made. This event was another example of the progress and continued extension of awareness of hemp in more traditional industries.
