As Program Sustainability Lead at Turner Construction Company, Katie Poss manages sustainability for all of Turner’s technology work. Her primary focus areas are incorporating embodied carbon into the procurement process, construction and demolition waste management, and low emission construction equipment. She is also the head of Turner’s Embodied Carbon in Concrete and Materials Research committee. Her passion for sustainability and construction began when she co-founded a monolithic dome construction company in 2012 and was exposed to the concepts of energy efficient and resilient design. She graduated with a B.S. in Concrete Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University. During her time at MTSU, she conducted research on the beneficial reuse of fly ash and on hempcrete, a low carbon bio-composite insulation material. She currently serves on Nashville Mayor Cooper’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, the Metro Nashville Public Works C&D Steering Committee, and is a founder of the Carbon Leadership Forum Nashville Hub.
