From USHBA Region 2

“On behalf of the United States Hemp Building Association, in particular Region 2; The Central Coast Green Building Council, Renewal Revolution, and Go Sustainable Now, we are shaken by the reports of the fire’s devastating the town of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii this month.  Our deepest sympathies go out to the injured, the deceased, the hundreds still missing, and all of their loved ones left to pick up the pieces.  Being in the heart of wildfire country California, we are no stranger to the havoc inflicted on the land and both the spirit and belongings of its inhabitants.

We stand with the locals and residents; as well as with the farmers, business owners, and Hawaii’s green build community, in this time of depredation and the accompanying overwhelming emotions. Our respect and gratitude goes out to Maui’s emergency service personnel and the community members for their selfless acts of bravery while trying to help their neighbors in need.

We understand as on-lookers our words don’t carry much weight, but we stand ready to do what we can as Lahaina works to move forward and rise from the ashes.  As time and healing permits, our hearts and doors are always open to come help be doers for the land and the community.

Maui Strong”

Sincerely,

Amanda Martin-Behrendtsen
Regional Leader Region 2
